Shedding and shedding and shedding and...

Question
I have a small neutered rabbit from a rescue.  He is now about 2.5 years old.  The problem is that he is shedding coat after coat after coat of hair.  He shed out at the end of spring before it got hot - this was expected.  His new coat seemed fine.  Then it shed out again.  It wasn't even out and he started to shed again.  He's part of the way through this shedding and I can see another one coming on.  What is going on?  Is there anything to worry about?  Can I stop it?  Please help...

Answer
Is this happening more than 4 times a year?  If so, have you had him checked out to make sure he doesn't have any health issues?  The rabbits that I have seen with this problem generally have some health issue, like arthritis, kidney problems, etc.

It's also possible that his diet is perhaps not fulfilling all his nutritional needs, and that is why it is happening.

If it's a diet issue, you can probably stop it, but if it's a health issue you may or may not be able to resolve it.
