Question
breeding a cal. doe to a black new zealand and all I ever get is black babies.  Why not some californias?

Well I am suprised you have not got any Cal`s .
The Black Gene is the dominant trait in all Rabbits, the white is the resesive. The Californian  has the dominant black trait that is why their ears,Tail are black so the babies get both Black Dominant gene from both parents. now you should get a cal sometime!
