Peanuts in the shell

Question
My bunny loves these treats called crunch arounds.  it's a peanut inside a coating of rice flour, corn starch, sesame seed, sugar. They have alot of fat, 14% and I don't know if that is per each nugget or the serving size which is 4 to 8 nuggets. I only give him a couple a day as rewards.
I have given him a few dried peanuts in the shell, no salt.  He likes these also. I want to know if he can be eating the shells. He eats enough shell to get to the peanut.  Is this okay for his guts? I feel it's better than the sugar on the crunch arounds, but I need to be sure the shells are okay.  Thanks much for your earlier answer, it was very helpful and worked like a charm.

Answer
Dear Kathleen,

As long as your bunny is not overweight, and does not suffer from cecal dysbiosis:

then a couple of little treats a day are not likely to cause problems.  Peanut shells should not be a problem, either, since he probably chews them up into small bits.  They are composed primarily of cellulose, which is digestible to rabbits (or at least to the microorganisms in their guts!).

Hope that helps!  Please write back if you have any other questions.
