Is it a sign of impending farrowing if my pregnant gilt is peeing while laying down?

On a female pot-bellied pig, the birth canal opening and the urinary tract opening are both located under the tail.

If the liquid you saw was amniotic fluid, then yes, this is a sign of impeding birth. If your pig still has not given birth by the time you read this, she will need to see a vet ASAP.

If the liquid was urine, then it is a sign of a serious problem. Pigs do not pee while lying down, unless they can not get up. If she can not get up, she'll need to see a vet.
