Rat lung tumor possible

Question
Rufus, my girlfriends pet dumbo rat, started getting "lazy" less than a week ago & was brought to the vet to get looked at on 3/25/10.  He's a little sluggish & breathing heavy/fast but he's eating, grooming & still running full speed when he wants to play.  The vet said he as a lung tumor.  Is there anything we can possibly do to treat him medicine-wise without having him cut open?

Answer
Well  you can cut him open, thats not an option.  Lung tumors on rats are inoperable.  However, how does the vet know this? Were xrays done?  Did he give him something to help his breathing such as albutreol?   Perhaps its heart disease instead, as it sounds more like that is what it is compared to a lung tumor.

Please read my website, sandyscrittercity.com and read about heart and lung disease and let me know when your done reading it.

Also, please go private and let me know the name of the vet your seeing. I can almost bet my left arm this vet is NOT qualified to treat rats.

If he was, he would have  put him on medication to help him.
