Question
I have a quaker parrot and i know it is in their nature to talk a lot (that is why i got him) but lately he has been doing some uncontrollably, annoying and extremely loud squawking. i have tried to ignore it but he just wont seem to stop. the only thing that will quiet him down some is to feed him some of his baby formula (but i know he doesn't need it because he has out grown it) most of the time he screams when he hears my voice, the door opens or closes, and when i leave the room. I do not want to give up my bird but this can not go on any more. i really need some advice. Thank you kasie

Answer
Oh dear, he has learnt that if he screams he gets what he wants (his baby formula)!! It will be very hard to get him to stop but the only way it is ever going to stop is if you ignore it and never give him attention or rewards for doing it. It will take time but it can be done with patience and by just totally ignoring it. Reward him for any good behaviour that he shows. Good luck
