bathing a lovebird w/ body cleanser

Hi Chrys, i have a question concerning bathing my lovebird.
I usually bath her with water spray
but my sister bathed her today with warm water, which was well mixed with 1-2 drops of human body cleanser.
after i washed her again with fresh water.
she seems to be fine, but could it kill/harm the bird?

Hi, Marial.  Thanks for posting!

Definitely YES it can harm your bird.  Only use those types of products made specifically for parrots when bathing your bird.  In fact, you really don't need to use anything except plain water, unless your bird is filthy for some reason.  I've had reasons to have to use Dawn dishwashing liquid on birds in order to get grease/oil off their feathers.
