My poor mice!

Question
To add on to my previous question my mice seem to be getting cold. I live in
florida (Trust me it is not cold) and both my male and female are hunkering in
a corner of their aquerims (they r seperated) i keep them in a walk in a closet
because my room is being built as a addition. I kept them in there because it
does not get too hot or cold and keeps out drafts. What can I do? I have
added extra shavings, wraped a towel around aquerims, put old socks in the
cage and let them cozzy in my jacket pockets when I get home until I go to
bed! I don't know whatelse to do! Will they die or become sick? Anymore
segestions? PLZ HELP! I love my mice and don't want them to die! HELP!

Answer
It is important that they have a buddy each so they can snuggle up if they get cold. Make sure they have enough food and water and no drafts can reach them.

Do the mice feel cold to the touch? Are they shivering when you hold them or in the cage? If they feel stone cold and appear almost dead they could be hibernating. Although this is very uncommon in mice particularly in warm climates it would explain their behavior. Make sure they have been stiff for at least 24 hours before you remove them from the cage as some have been mistaken as dead and buried alive.

If they are old mice then they could be at the end of their life. Some old mice get very cold and thin and don't move about much. If this is the case make sure they have their favorite food nearby on ground level and some juicy fruit in case they can't reach the bowl or bottle of water.

Please feel free to ask any more questions. Good luck.
