Scabs

Question
My mouse recently had mites. I used a spray to get rid of them, and they seem to be gone. Now my mouse has scabs on his ears and on his face below his whiskers from scratching. I can't get him to leave them alone long enough for them to heal. I was afraid that he still had mites, but I wasn't sure. A vet told me it wouldn't cause my mouse harm to continue the use of the spray. But still, after about a month, the scabs have not healed. What can I do to help the little guy?

Answer
If the spray hasn't helped by now I would stop using it. If you are able to find something called 'sudocrem' I would recommend using it on him. It is gentle enough to use on his skin and will help heal the scabs. It also tastes revolting so he won't be tempted to lick it off. Massage the skin as you apply it to increase blood flow which will help it heal.

Discontinue to use anything that may have introduced the mites such as hay and straw.

I hope he heals up soon. Please feel free to ask any more questions.
