My mouses tail.

Question
Hi! My mouse's tail got stuck on the door to his ball! I need help, it was only about a centimeter from the end of the tail, and he has been squeaking. Right now he is currently in his cage. I'm hoping not to have to go to the vet.. any suggestions? thank you!

Answer
Poor mouse! When you say stuck do you mean trapped or 'glued' on (like with food)?

It may just sort itself out, it is better he pulls than you do as you may cause more damage. If his tail is stuck with food use a cue tip and warm water to gently soften the substance until he can wiggle free.

When you say 'ball' I'm assuming you mean the plastic ones that allow mice to run around the room without escaping. The door part is screwed on and had tiny gaps to allow air to circulate. Do you mean that the tail has been caught in one of these gaps?

If so he will probably be able to pull himself free unless the tail is too swollen to pull back through. If this is the case you may need to take him to the vet.

I hope he manages to break free, please feel free to ask any more questions.
