Found a baby mouse in paletes

Question
QUESTION: Hi.
About a day or two ago I found a baby rodent. It looks alot like a mouse or rat I can't tell. It has a white belly and grey back. Right now I am feeding her baby formula mixed with Oasis Vita-Drops for hamsters, mice, rats and gerbils. We named the baby Tiger incase its a boy or girl we can't tell yet. I read on a site to feed baby mice baby soy formula, is it better then plain baby formula? The eyes and ears aren't open yet. Tiger is walking around the cage and has very fine fur. I put a stuffed animal in for Tiger to snuggle in. We do stimulate Tiger everytime she/he eats, which is around every 3 or 4 hours. If I knew how to put pictures on I would but I don't I'll try to find a way. Right now Tiger in is a plastic cage with air vents. We feed Tiger every 3 hours.
I'll try to find a way to put a picture on here, or I'll put a picture on my pet site.
Thanks alot, I'm going to go check on the lil fella.

ANSWER: You can feed the baby Soy baby formula, normal baby formula, and Kitten Milk Replacement (KMR). If the baby has fur that's good, their chances of survival have already gone up. you need to make sure they'll be warm. If it's summer over there by you, there's no need to really give the baby much more than fuzzy bedding to sleep in. If it's winter try a heating pad set on low, and put one half of the cage on and the other off. Heat lamps work well too as long as it's on it's lowest setting and the baby has some shade to crawl into, or a section of the cage that's a bit cooler. Everything else you're doing sounds about right, but to help you determine the age of your baby mouse I'll include a link that shows day by day pictures of baby mice.

QUESTION: Thanks!
It looks like hes 7-8 days old. Also when do we wean him off liquid food?
We are keeping him because he has become to familiar with our scent, what age should we introduce a friend to him/her? We have a HUGE aquarium tank for him to live in and I made a hammock I'll probably also try to find chew toys. If it's a boy should I get another boy? Or if its a girl should I get another girl? Should I get the opposite gender? How long will the little guy live for? Some sites say 5 years but he is living with us. We will be keeping him outside cause its warm enough and we're building a cover for the aquarium and a roof.
I'll try to do some pictures today.
Thanks!

Answer
7-8 days, awesome. You can wean him off liquid food at about 3-4 weeks or when you see the teeth starting to come in. I usually start giving my babies soft solids when the teeth start coming in but they still nurse on mama (which would be you in this case) and soon they start weaning themselves. When teeth start coming in try drying out pieces of bread then soaking them in milk or water. The drying out part is important becuase the yeast reacts badly in the stomachs of most rodents if the bread isn't dried. Get the baby the same gender, if it is male they might fight so it's usually best to keep males solitary but it's really up to you. I wouldn't suggest keeping a week old baby outside, it could easily die. Keep it inside where the temperature is more constant and where you can keep checking to see if the baby is warm. If it gets too cold all it's energy will be sapped and it won't have enought to eat or grow. Good luck with your baby!
