unusual rodent

Question
I found a dead mouse brought in by my cat. I have never seen
one like it before. It has a long pointy face and long ears.
It has a dark dorsal stripe and white patches on the side that
look like a belt. It is not in my book of British mammals. Any
ideas what it might be?

I'm pretty sure that isn't a mouse. What size is it? Did you take a photo? You can attach a photo to these questions. If you attach a photo I will look, but I can't guarantee I will have more luck than you. Still it's a fun challenge! What part of Great Britain do you live in?
