squeezed mouse

Question
Hi. I had my mouse at the vet today, and was given some eye drops. While trying to administer them, I accidentally squeezed the mouse too tightly--I saw her mouth gape open and let go. I can't believe I was so stupid, but I was concentrating so hard on getting the drops in her eye that I didn't notice how I was gripping her. Now she's not moving much, although she is breathing. The vet is closed until tomorrow, otherwise I would call them. Is there anything I can do to help my mouse? Or is it a wait-and-see situation? Thank you.

Answer
Dear Jinx,

I'm so sorry about the mouse.  There's nothing you can do before taking her to the vet, but do so immediately.  Some vets have 24 hour emergency service.  The best you can do is make very sure she stays warm.  Whenever anything goes wrong with a mouse it can lose the ability to keep itself warm and sometimes that's why it dies.

I do wish her the very best of luck.
