Question
my sisters mouse just had babies and im babysitting while she is on her honeymoon, i have had a mouse that has had babies at my house but her mouse has buried her babies under the bedding, is this a normal behavior or should i be worried that she is abandoning them?

Answer
Dear Sara,
thank you for your question.
I wouldn't worry at that point, the mouse is probably just keeping her babies safe. Maybe she just doesn't like the hiding places or they are too small, especially if it's a large litter.
Keep an eye on her to see if she takes care of the babies, but don't disturb her. There's not that much you can do if she decides to abadon them. Often, the babies are already sick or dying in that case. You can try to handraise them, but it's very hard especially before the babies have grown fur. This websites has tips on how to do it:

I hope I was of some help to you
