Question
Hey Tamarah,

How are you?!

It's Mart here with the collection of domestic / wild mice!

They're all doing great... well i say that.. a few wild mice have died since we spoke but i htink it may be down to illnesses as i didnt let males live together.. infact they all lived on their own in separate cages. anyway i have a domestic one claled Carol as you know. (that pregnant one i sent u pictures of that time) and i have noticed quite a bit of hair loss round the head and lower neck area. It is also very pink round there (unless thats just there natural skin colour) do u have any idea what this down be down to?

Thanks very much Tamarah.

Mart.

Answer
Hey Mart,

Nice to hear from you again.  Does Carol live with any other mice who might be barbering her?  If so, it could just be a sign of dominance by other mice that shouldn't be a problem unless you also notice fighting.  If not, it may an allergy, mites, or something else entirely.  There are some great instructions on how to handle mites here:  http://en.allexperts.com/q/Mice-3824/2009/2/Mouse-mites.htm

If you don't think it's barbering, and mites don't seem likely or the treatment doesn't work, you can try changing the bedding in case some kind of recent change or other allergen is making her itchy.

Best of luck,
-Tam
