Question
we have 2 mice we got a couple of months apart. we just had our first set of babies turn 5-6 wks?on that. We didn't seperate the mouse couple and they had a second set of babies last night. We seperated them now. Can we ever house them together without them having babies. I know we can neuter them but is there any other way. How much is neutering anyways

Answer
Dear Stefanie,
thank you for your question.
If you house males and female together, they will have babies. They won't stop because they are related or because the tank is too crowded. Neutering males is the only way to house males and females together.

It's likely that there will be a third litter because the female can get pregnant directly after giving birth. If you didn't separate the first litter into males and females do that right now because they can mate with four weeks. If you are unsure about how to sex them (young mice can be hard to sex), see a vet with them. www.rmca.org/Vets has a list of vets who have experience with rodents.

I can't tell you how much neutering the mice will cost because it depends on the vet and prices may differ between individual vets.
I hope I was of some help to you
