Stimulating baby deer mouse; temperature

Question
I've been raising an orphaned deer mouse since it was 7 days old.  It opened its eyes 2 days ago.  I have not been able to stimulate it to go in the last 24 hours, but have seen no evidence that it's going on its own.  Should I continue to try to stimulate it or stop.  Also, I'm keeping its box temperature at 90-95 degrees now (was 95-100 degrees earlier).  Is that too warm for its age?

Answer
Dear Travis,

Yes, continue to gently stimulate (periodically) if you don't find any evidence of elimination on its own. Babies die from being "backed up" if they can't eliminate.

That's pretty warm. My grown up mice don't like it over about 75 in the room, and a mouse nest is about 80. Can you cool it down a bit? And within a week it will be happier at less than 75.

This mouse is going to love you like no mouse-raised mouse. And wild mice live longer than pet or fancy mice, so it will be a long friendship.

I will be very grateful if you let me know what happens.

Best of luck,

squeaks,
Natasha
