Hamsters in Noisy Classroom

Question
I have a question about hamsters. The thing is though, I wont be able to keep it at home We are having a 7th/8th grade science fair for the last four weeks of school. I see at as an opportunity to finally get a hamster. I was thinking about keeping it at school for the next four weeks and then sending it home to various students that are able to have a hamster ( I've already arranged for care after the four weeks!) My teacher has also approved keeping the animal in the classroom. There are a few people in my class who have asthma, but they will only been in that class for periods at a time. I'm sure they'll be fine. Now down to my question: Will it be too stressful to keep a hamster in a moderatly noisy classroom for only four weeks? There's no telling if any one student would burst out in laughing or something like that. You see, I know hamsters are nocturnal but would this environment be okay for a little while? Also, would I absolutly have to take him/her home on weekends?

Answer
The great thing about hamsters is, they sleep all day, and wake at night. As long as you provide the hamster adequate shelter, like a plastic igloo covered in shavings enough to block out the light, he'll be fine. Since the class room will only be noisy for a small portion of the over all day, it isn't as huge of an issue as you think. It gets 100% alone time when the school is closed, which it will enjoy.

I'd recommend an aquarium cage, since it will help to block out the noise better then a plastic or wire cage. Keep it out of sunlight, and make sure he has fresh food and water before you leave for the day. Spending 2 days alone isn't terrible, but I wouldn't do a 3 day weekend. You should buy some hard food treats like Vitakraft brand raviolos, and leave them along with a full bowl of food on weekends. The hard treats will ensure food lasts just fine.

Anything else feel free to ask.
