biting ferret

Question
I have two female sister ferrets who are ten months old.
They had the jill jab two months ago but I intend to have them spayed next spring.
Frosty, whom I have always thiught of the quieter one, has started biting her sister Pegg. She really pulls on her ears and scruff of the neck and tries to drag her round the cage; there seems to be no let up - this started about a week ago.
Apart from this they seem quite happy and healthy! They get regular playtimes out of the cage each day.
I would appreciate your thoughts  and suggestions,
Thanks, Emma

Answer
Ferrets bite each other when they play, there is nothing out of the norm about that. As long as they are having fun and not hurting each other, it's ok. You'll know if they are hurting each other if one of them is pooping, bleeding, or screaming. Other than that they are just being ferrets.

What worries me more is the fact that they are females and haven't been spayed yet, and you don't intend to have them fixed until NEXT spring??? You must not wait that long, as soon as they are sexually mature they will go into heat and not come out of it unless spayed or mated. A female ferret will die of complications if left in heat too long. It is imperative that you have them fixed as soon as it is safe to do so. You need to talk to your vet about an appropriate age to have them altered. Getting it done too early is almost as bad as getting it done too late, but I know for sure that next year is way too long. Ferrets mature rapidly, so it needs to get done SOON. Do NOT wait on this, it is vital to your ferret's health.
