Question
Yes, I have a 5 month old greyhound and i just cannot get her house trained or Crete . I already have a 2 year old mini greyhound and had no problems. I have tried everything and it is so hard to know when she has to go. She does not squat for peeing or pooping. We have doggie doors for them to go in and out of our backyard. She get plenty of excessive and there is someone home all the time. I have had her checked at the vets to make sure there was nothing wrong . She will pee if she gets the slitless bit excited . You can't put her on your lap because she will pee or poop on you. Our friends come over and she will jump up on there leg and pee on there shoes. I really don't no how much longer my husband is going to put up with this. I have try everything. I have potty trained  3 dogs with success . One was 6 months old from a pet store and she ate her poop. I have tried the leash , made her create smaller, She gets fed 3 time a day and nothing after PM . Is there anything else i can do?

Answer
Hi Kathleen,

Your doggie door may be hampering your ability to house train your dog. But the other thing you have going on is that she appears to be submissive peeing according to your description.  She can't help that and scolding her will only make it worse. First of all NO 5 month old dog should be jumping on people. If you can't stop it, she should have a leash on her at all times so she learns NOT to jump on people.  Guests should ignore her for at least 10 minutes upon their arrival until things are calm again. While it is true that dogs don't squat to pee when they are submissively peeing, they do squat when they relieve themselves intentionally. It sounds like this little girl is extremely insecure and stressed so you need to build her confidence. Often as dogs mature and gain confidence, submissive peeing stops.

Keep doing what you are doing for house training, ensure her crate is small so she can't pee in the front or back and sleep away from her mess. Find a positive trainer in your area at www.apdt.com
