pooping

I have a mother dog, about 4 yrs old, and her 1 yr old pup. I take them out regularly, but still they will poop when they come in, even if they did outside.  I need some suggestions.  I am tired of it.

do you go out with them to make sure that they "go"? It doesn't sound like they have become completely housetrained. You need to manage and supervise carefully (baby gates, closed doors, even tethering them to you so you can catch the instant they start sniffing and circling. Keep a journal of when they need to go, and feed regularly scheduled meals (instead of just leaving food down) Also, clean any soiled areas thoroughly, with a good enzymatic cleaner.
