Question
Hello, I have a 5 yr old female min pin. We keep her in a crate during the day while my husband and I are at work we had a blanket and pillow in the crate and she has managed to destroy both. So we figured we would try placing her in the bathroom with her dog bed and blanket and after a while started chewing on the baseboard by the door completely destroyed my shower curtain. So we moved her back into her crate with nothing and with in the last week she has destroyed the plastic plate in the bottom by chewing on it and she is trying to find a way out of the crate by trying to squeeze through the wire gaps. We would leave her out but we do not trust that she will not pee, poop or destroy anything. Please help thanks.

Answer
The dog needs positive mental and physical exercise. The dog is bored and looking for something to occupy its brain and move its muscles. Get it some chew proof toys, intelligent dog puzzles, food in a kong toy, etc.  The dog needs 2-4 hrs of exercise, play, running, etc, per day.  Most dogs and cats are under stimulated and don't get enough mental or physical exercise.
