Potty accidents in the house

Question
Hi Dennis-

I talked to you about 6 weeks ago on the phone and you were extremely helpful regarding crate training our cock-a-poo, which has been partially successful.  We have been successful in getting 90% of her evacuations outside, the other 10%, she still goes inside.  She doesn't seem to care if she goes inside or not.  Tonight, about two hours after she had last gone outside, she just peed right on the floor, without giving us a signal (or she did and I missed it).  She seems to know that she should go outside, but it doesn't matter if she goes inside, she doesn't care.  She also generally only goes in our backyard, and if it's not "mushy" snow, or grass (which is hard to find in the a.m. at this time of the year), she won't go, or it takes us about 5 times to get her to evacuate both in the a.m. because the snow is harder.

Any advice would be helpful.

Thanks.

Paige

Answer
Keep more stringent to the schedule of putting her back in the crate and leave her longer if she does not go outside.  You pick the spot not her.  Control the situation and you will be successful.  Sounds like you're part way there just back up a bit and move forward slower.  Stick to the routine religiously until you have complete success.  I don't remember how old your dog was but if it is still a young pup under 6 months it may take a little longer as she may not be mentally mature enough to understand what is happening totally.
