dog has a swollen puffy ear

My four year old male beagle, Peanut, has a swollen puffy ear. I clean his ears regularly with Oti Soothe and Baytril Otic.  He was outside after it rained, and was muddy and shaking his head. A friend said he may have broken a blood vessel. Is that possible and what is the treatment cure? Is this an emergency?

Your dog might of been bitten by a bug or he may have allergies, you can give your dog benedryal 1 pill, make sure it is in a pill form, if it is a capsule make sure he doesn't chew it. Also dogs can have allergies from food but it sounds like it was something outside. You can e-mail me back if you want, Is it inside the ear or on the outside of the ear?
