Question
My dog started off small red bumps on her paws then it spread all over I just feel so bad for her. I took her to the vet when it first began and the vet gave her a shot she needed and then gave me flea medicine and shampoo. But the rash has gotten worse and it might be from the grass. I need to know the best thing out there that will work because she is in so much pain.

Answer
Hi David,

Sometimes, a doctor's first course of action doesn't work as effectively as hoped for. This is true of human doctors, and veterinarians.

Your dog needs a return trip to the vet, since the first treatment didn't work as well as expected.

Have you treated your lawn, or do you walk him where the lawn might have been treated by pesticides?
Even if your dog is having a contact reaction to pollen, and not pesticides, it would help to wash her paws after every walk, Use cool water (cool soothes an itch) If possible dry the paws with a hair drier (on the cool setting). Rubbing the paws with a towel can aggravate the itch.

Please don't delay in getting your dog re-examined, so she' doesn't suffer needlessly with itching.

Gest of luck,
Patti
