Question
My 9 year old boxer/ridgeback cross is occassionally displaying abnormal behaviour.  She is usually extremely well behaved and trained.  This is the second time she has been unwell for a couple of days then she is fine.  She walks into doors, can't find food to her mouth, isn't interested in visitors when she usually is, snatched her food out of my hand then tried to eat it inside (she NEVER does this, sometimes she shows a disinterest in food also.  She seems to be scared and her body gets real rigid when she has these episodes, do you have any idea what the problem may be?

Answer
Hi Debbie-

My first thought if it were my dog would be neurological. Perhaps seizures, a recent stroke, or another similar condition. At her age, I would be concerned and would contact my vet for a more in depth look into the problem- particularly the depth perception problems is indicative of a stroke or seizure, or an inner ear problem.

Good luck, and I hope she feels better soon!
