Introducing a 3rd dog

Question
I currently have a 10 month old German Shepherd/Chow (GS personality) and a 14 month old English Setter. It took a little time to get pack order straight, but they are good now. Both are crate and potty trained (Just tring to give as much info as possible). I also have cats and no issues there. I'm wanting to get another dog, just becuase we have a huge yard, the money to support care, have the time and patience, and I really LOVE adopting (all my pets are taken from quick-kill shelters). I've considered a more laid back dog, maybe a bulldog, but am concerned about size. I don't want the others steppin' all over a smaller dog. I've also thought about a large docile dog like a Great Dane or something, so that they have the statue not to be messed with. Also, all dogs are male; do I go with female or male? The boys did hump my mom's goldens, but they were in heat. I do not want any humping issues. Can you give some input?

Answer
Well sometimes just talking to shelter staff will help you get the right dog,so they may in fact have someone in there now that might be good for you.A bulldog is a study dog and isn't going to get hurt easily.Great Danes are nice dogs and can take a lot, greyhounds are also simuler.Male or female is up to you-humping can be reduced by getting all dogs fixed, also the other females being in heat even if your dogs are fixed will arouse your males, since they don't hump each other they are not 'chronic' humpers, meaning they hump everything.A spayed female would be ok

Small dogs and big dogs can mix, though most people try to keep similar sizes you don't have to if you find a smaller dog you like
