Yeast and fungis in the ear

Question
I have a friend that is tired of spending large sums of money for drugs and vet bills and has not cured the cocker spaniels' ear problem.  Do you have any suggestion for over the counter or home remedies to help the ear with yeast and fungus? It does not seem to go away with drugs or ointments from the vet.

Answer
Yes I do.  Tell your friend to order Zymox ear products.  He/she should order the following:

Zymox Cleaner
Zymox Otic Hydrocortisone-free medication (do not use the 1% hydrocortisone med in this case).

I get it from EntirelyPets.com but perhaps his favorite place may have it too.  No prescription necessary.  Just go there and type Zymox in their search box.

Here's how you use it:

Clean the ear and use the cleaner as you would any cleaner.

Then begin daily treatment with the Otic med.  And this is important - you fill the canal - massage dog's ear - let dog shake head and do NOT clean out the canal.  Usually 7 days will do it but if it's a stubborn case then two weeks.  Do not clean ears during treatment period.
You can wipe off the inner ear flag.

This stuff is a miracle and Vet Dermatologists love it.  My own vet uses nothing else.

I'd also like to know what your friend is feeding the dog.  A lot of supermarket food can exacerbate the problem so I'd have suggestions.
