Question
We just got a 5 month old male cocker he has never been on a leash and when u put him on it he wont move. If you do finally get him to move he walks right between your legs. Even in the house we are always tripping over him what can we do? Also if we get a real christmas tree is he goinf to try peeing on it since we are potty training?

Answer
You should have two leashes.  One is an extension leash for walks and a short, light  leash for when you need more control.

Put a short, light leash on him and walk away.  Don't initially try and make him walk with you.  Then call him for a treat.  Let him get used to this "thing" attached to him and associate it with a reward.
Make it a game. (Waiting this long to begin leash training was a big mistake.  And he should be getting a good, long walk every day)

If you're potty training you need to Take him out (not put him out) every few hours.  Choose a command like "go potty".  Have him on leash and watch him closely.  No chat except the command every 30 seconds.
When you see he's about to go - give the command and afterwards, praise & reward with a treat.

As far as the Xmas tree goes - a puppy this age shouldn't have free run of the house unless closely supervised.  They can & will chew on anything which can be dangerous.
