Question
We have a male 12yr old Cocker Spaniel who we love very much. He has been blind the past 18months but vet said he was not in pain and he gets on with life.He has very bad breath now and also a few growths under skin. I pointed one out to our vet before and I know its a tumour. Please dont say this is the end. What should we do?

Answer
Why is he blind?  Cataracts?  Has he seen a vet Opthalmologist?  Do you have an ER in your city?

Growths under the skin are not usually tumors.  Mostly they are what is called "fatty lipomas" and harmless.

Your vet should have aspirated the lump (a fine needle biopsy - not painful to your boy) and sent it off for analysis.  This is simple and I'm astounded your vet has not done that.

Regarding his bad breath - are you brushing his teeth?  What are you feeding him?

Personally I think you need a new vet.  This one sounds hopeless.
