Question
QUESTION: my dog has had a dry spot on one side of her nose for about a month. she also had a cherry ball under her lip. the cherry has turned into a scab and it looks like its healing. she has also shown strange behavior. periodically she will act strange, almost delusional. she will go to the same spots in my home and go crazy as if there were something there. This is not normal for her behavior. There are times when she will see a bug and bark at it. but, when this occurs she doesn't bark she just acts erratic.

ANSWER: I'd like to know how old your dog is?  What are you feeding her?
Have you taken her to the vet?  Is the dry spot on her nose crusty?

And you say "periodically" the strange behavior happens..how often is that?  Are they the same spots each time?  Can you describe more specifically what she does?

I'd certainly advise taking her in for a full Wellness check and also do a thyroid check.
Any time a dog abruptly changes behavior it's always wise to see if there's a physical problem.

QUESTION: My dog is a 3yr old cocker spaniel. I feed her pedigree complete nutrition and lamb and rice. I took her to the vet for her vaccinations about a week before this started happening. The dry spot on her nose sort of white like dry skin. I took her to a vet and he said it was due to her cells drying up and prescribed a cream which he is ordering. I never got the name of it. The strange behavior happens id say about once a week. She starts panting as if she were running around. Each time its when im leaving to work in the morning. The last time was in the middle of the night when everyone was asleep. She will be panting then she goes to my dresser and looks up and wants to jump on it, she will jump on my bed and look at the window sill and try to jump on there, she goes into the bathtub and scratches at it, she runs behind the couch and scratches at it. She runs around as if she's afraid and goes to the same spots looking around. I call her and try to get her to calm down and come to me but she doesn't listen. When it happen during the night I called her up on the bed was able to calm her down and get her to sleep but she was still panting in her sleep. A little while later she woke me up again with the same behavior. Id like to add her panting starts before she does all of that. I mentioned that she runs around like shes looking for something but thats not why shes panting.

Answer
Michelle,
If you're going to do homemade food, contact me and I can go over things with you to ensure you're not missing something important.
Like a calcium supplement - the right oil - fibre - type of salts, etc.

I still advise having a commercial food on hand though - something they do well on.
