my boxer is so skinny!

Question
I have a boxer puppy that is just about six months old now.  The vet had put her on Science Diet but she just didn't take to it.  We tried several other foods before we finally found that she likes Nutro's Natural Choice.  The problem is that she still is so skinny!  We have had her checked and she is in perfect health.  She weighs only about 25 lbs now!  is this normal?  the vet believes that she is skinny but says not to be concerned because she is so young, but we are tired of hearing the comments at the park about starving our precious pup!  is this a normal weight?  should we be feeding her something different?  is there something else we can do to help her fill out?  at this age, should she have more muscle mass?  she doesn't seem to have any!  she is all skin and bones!  HELP!

Answer
First off- GET ANOTHER VET!

Call vets, ask if the vet is Boxer smart (knows all about the breed)

Get her in there ASAP!

She could have a thyroid disorder which is common in Boxers and daily medicine fixes. She could be diabetic. She might have a tape worm... it's endless possibilities... A good vet will check everything thoroughly to conclusion.

In the meantime, run down to your local pet store and buy a tube of protein for dogs (there are different brands).... it is a cream you squirt out of the tube and is flavored, which is high protein and calories. It is especially given to dogs and cats that are low weight.

Find a higher calorie and higher protein dog food. Research and Google that.

Get her to the vet. 25lbs is not good health!

P.S. You can feed her creamy peanut butter (high protein) as a snack (small tads at a time obviously) and sugar-free vanilla ice cream to add weight and keep her going. But get her to a NEW VET!
