Beagle regresses to puppy potti behavior

Question
We have a beagle, approximatly 10 months old. He was "fixed" last month. He seems to be in general good health (clear eyes, clean and shiney coat, always using his nose), but suddenly, he's started urinating all over the house. He's gone a couple of times near the door (forgiveable, since we hope that he was trying to signal us), but has also gone in other rooms and on the beds. He knows how to signal his need to go out - he scratches on the door. Now, he doesn't bother and just goes when the need comes upon him. We've begun the regimen of retraining, but is there some reason why he would suddenly get stupid?

Any help you can offer would be appreciated.

Answer
Hi, thanks for writing to me.

I would want to talk to my vet and make sure that everything is A-OK from the surgery. It could just be from the hormonal differences, last surge of testosterone coming through or perhaps the surgery did soemthing to his bladder or ??

You are doing the right thing in retraining him, just keep at it. This isn't something I have commonly heard of.
