Question
Dear Mr. Jennings,
My beagle has ran away. What should I do?

Thank you,
Donna Sue

Answer
I am sorry to hear your beagle ran away. Beagle are known to be roamers. They follow their nose but, can't find their way back home.
First, check with your local SPCA. Some SPCA have an automated system or Internet listings that allow you to search for your pet without leaving home.
Second, place a lost ad in the local paper. Newspaper offer a free lost and found section. You can review the listing online at no cost as well.
Third, make flyer on your PC or at your local business/copy center. Post the flyer around town. Post them at local vet's office and pet supply store. Many Vet offices and pet supply centers have a community board. Also, be sure to post a flyer on the board at the local SPCA.
Also, if your pets do not have a microchip this may be something to look in to. Beagles make good candidates since they tend to roam. A pet microchip is a small chip about the size of a grain of rice. It is injected between your pets shoulder blades. The cost is usually less then an annual pet exam. Most SPCA and vet offices have a microchip scanner. The makers of the chip keeps your address and phone number on file and is contacted if your pet is found. Also, when you register your pet at the SPCA you can register your pets microchip number. It may be something to look in to for any other pets you may have and if you find your beagle.
I hope this helps and good luck finding your beagle.
