Question
Hi Anne, I did not know it was bad for my Aussie's coat to shave him, and had it done three summers before a groomer finally told me! He used to have silky curls down his back and now his coat is fuzzy and cottony. Will the texture ever improve and return to its original condition as it grows out in the coming years? And is there anything I can do to improve the texture of his beautiful coat other than regular brushing and removal of undercoat? Thank you very much for your help!

Answer
Unfortunately, I can't tell you that.  Some dogs regrow the guard hair, others never do, which is one reason we tell owners of double coated dogs never, ever to shave them.  If your dog is young, there is a better chance for the hair to regrow than if he is older.
