Question

my new puppy
I am going to be getting a female pure breed Australian Shepherd in about a month, when she turns 8 weeks. I have looked online, but can not find any pictures or information on any Black Tri Colored Aussies with overly white faces(she also has blue eyes). I was just wondering if it is very common? and if I should have to worry about eye problems? i have seen the puppy at 3 weeks and she seems just fine to me, and i will see her again at 5 weeks, is there anything i should look for to indicate eye issuse?

Answer
The way that you assess your dog for the possibility of eye issues is:
You ask the breeder for the CERF reports on the parent dogs, or you check the CERF reports yourself for the dogs listed on your pup's pedigree.  Here is the site: http://www.vmdb.org/history.html
If your breeder does not do CERF testing, you should consider running away fast and finding a reputable breeder, even if you lose your deposit.  You also want to be sure that your puppy was not the result of a merle to merle breeding.
The mere fact that an Aussie has blue eyes is not cause for concern.
