blind puupy/cant walk

Question
Yesterday I became the owner of a blind 7 week old puppy nobody wanted because he is blind.  I realized last night that his back legs are very weak and he really can't walk that well.  I also noticed that he does not seem to know when he is urinating (either none of this was noticed by the previous owner or they just chose not to tell me about it).  He just keeps scooting around while urinating and subsequently gets urine all over him and the surrounding area.  He is a corgi. Could he be partially paralyzed? Is there hope for this poor little guy that everyone gave up on?
Help!

Answer
Obviously, I can't diagnose your puppy's hind end problems, so you should see a veterinarian asap to find out if there is some paralysis, or other cause for his inability to walk properly.  Some long backed dogs are prone to spinal problems, but you need a vet to figure that out.

As to the blindness, that should not be an impediment to training or being able to manage him and have him be a great pet.  This book will give you lots of really good info on that:  http://www.petcarebooks.com/books/living_blind.htm

Once he's had some shots, and can interact with other puppies, don't coddle him any more than necessary - at least while he's under six months of age, do have him play with others so that he won't be terrified later.

These products might help, too, depending on the severity of his issues:
