Question
Hello,
i have a 9 year old White domestic short hair, lately shes been losing weight, she had an eye removed late last year.
shes also got scabbing above where her eye used to be (she had the scabbing before her eye was removed) but when i pick it off there no broken skin underneath, and after a few days its there again. She also has black dots on her nose, when i took her to the vet about her eye they didn't say anything about the scab or dots. hopefully you can give me some answers.

Answer
Hi, Heather!  I looked at her picture, and she does seem a little on the thin side, which could be attributed to her age, but if she hasn't had any blood work done recently I would definitely suggest that since chronic renal failure and diabetes can both cause weight loss and are fairly common in older cats.  It could simply be that she's not as active as she used to be and is losing some muscle mass as a result, but I always think it's better to be safe then sorry.  I'm not sure about the scabs above her eye, but if she has no skin problems, then I'm wondering if it isn't some acne.  Kitties are prone to getting it on their chin, but I suppose it's possible any where.  The black dots on her nose could be just skin pigment - cats with pink skin tend to develop pigment changes as they age, but those kinds of things also need to be monitored as white cats with pink skin are also unfortunately higher on the list for skin cancer.
