Constapated?

I have a 1 yr old male cat. We recently moved to the south where is is alot hotter than Washington. I noticed that when he is in the litter box, sometimes it looks like he isn't going. But in a trance and sometimes breathing heavy. I cannot tell if he drinks enough water. I am concerned. Could be be constipated? Any thoughts?

Try using canned chicken broth. Most cats like it. Give him canned food, it contains oil and liquid. There are also products from your vet or pet store that help with constipation. Usually they come in a tube and you rub it on their paws.
