my cat is pregnant for the first time

Question
I have had my cat Milkshake since she was seven weeks old. She is a very fuzzy, 1 and a half year old. Normally she is a medium sized cat weight wize, and very small in length. Her stomach is now huge, and within the past week and a half her teets have dropped. I'm not sure of the exact date she became pregnant, but I do know who the father is.  He is our other house cat. I have a few questions because this is her first litter, and she is very important to me. I live in a very small town, and the nearest emergency vet is over 3 hours away. So if there was to be an emergency, I'd be the one to take care of her. Ok, now to the questions.

1. I have a dresser drawer that she sleeps in. She started sleeping there before she was pregnant, and continues to sleep there. I thought this was going to be her nest, but today when she is not in the drawer she keeps moving around to different spots. She hasn't stayed in the same place for very long today. Would this be a sign that she is going to nest somewhere different, and that it will be soon? Other people have said that they new which spot it would be because their cats don't really get in boxes that much, but she loves boxes. Especially 12 pack soda boxes.

2. Her teets have dropped, and I've checked randomly for lactate or liquid, but so far I've felt nothing. She is a very long haired fuzzy cat, and she hasn't lost any noticeable amount of fur around her nipples. Should I be worried about the kittens not being able to get to them?

3. Since she is long furred, and black, I'm not sure I'll be able to see the mucous bag or any discharge. I haven't really read about that being a big problem, but I'm just making sure.

4. She normally is not a very lovable cat. She keeps to herself, and likes to sleep. Now she is more lovable and loves when I pet her stomach. I've read accounts where the cat wanted someone there while they were birthing; if I am not home at the time, will she be maybe hostile or angry towards me later? She and I moved in with my aunt and her two kids when my mom died, so she doesn't really like anyone  else. She never lets them pet her belly like she does me. Though she is very lovable now :]

5. It is 11:45 pm right now and she has been acting a little bit strange the pat couple of hours. I know she is getting close to birthing. She rarely meows, and she meowed twice today; they sounded like the meows of a kitten though. Is that normal?

6. This is her first litter and the father of the kittens is  our other house cat. Will he present a problem to Milkshake or the kittens?

7. Ok, I think this is the last question. The drawer she sleeps in ( which she is now back in after laying down in about 6 different places since I started typing this question! ) is the top drawer in the dresser and also has no top. She climbs in and out by climbing up a set of three shelves that connect the dresser to the bed. It's not very high off the ground, and she jumps only about 2 inches from the last shelf onto my bed, but if she decides to move the kittens will the set of three "jumps" she will take hurt them? She lets me pull the drawer out ( not like out and put  it on the ground, but out as if I were looking for a shirt ) and pet her. Should I take the drawer completely out and maybe sit it on the ground, or on my bed? Would she then choose a different place to have them?

Well, I hope I have not asked these questions to late. She has been acting weird in the past couple of hours, and I think she might have them soon. I guess it's better safe than sorry :]

Thank you,
Ashlie

Answer
Hi Ashlie,

Sorry, I've been out with a cold, I was just wondering if your cat had kittens and if so how many?  I hope everything went okay.
