Siamese cat very saggy stomach

Question
I have a year old neutered male Siamese mix.  He is indoor/outdoor.  He has a nice stature except he has a really big saggy belly.  I have tried cutting down on his food but it doesn't seem to matter. Is this common in some Siamese mix cats?

Answer
Renee,

What your cat has is referred to as a "fat bag" (sorry, but this is not my terminology). You often see it in the big cats in zoos.

Cutting down his food is great, if he is not finding food anywhere else! On the other hand, even if you cut down his food his metabolism will slow down to compensate for a number of weeks or months.  Keep his food to a constant minimum amount, and, in time, he will lose weight, if and only if he is receiving no food anywhere else!!!!!!!!!!

He may not lose his belly, totally, but his muscle tone and general health will improve if he loses weight and, so, becomes more active.

Best regards... Norm.
