Birman Cat - Constant Crying

14:33:26

Question
Due to working long hours I chose to buy a kitten to keep my Birman company. At first "Teddy" (the Birman) did not want to be anywhere near the new kitten. However, 9-months later, they now clean one another and play-fight etc. When they are alone they seem to be quite content. Unfortunately, when I return home from work, regardless of how much attention I pour upon Teddy, he persists in loud, piercing crying and continues this behaviour all the way through the night. I own a large property and rent out flats within the house to tenants. Teddy is now keeping the entire household awake and his actions have prompted one of my Tenants to move out!
He has now been like this for about 3-months and I am tired and at my wit's end. Any advice you could give would be most gratefully received.
Many thanks & best regards
Gerry

Answer
Gerard,

Is Teddy neutered?  If not, caterwauling is a behavior of non-neutered cats. Given his age, he has reached puberty, and this very well may be the issue. After being neutered these behaviors usually settle down in a few weeks.
