yellow belly dogface puffer

I wanted to know if the yellow belly  dogface puffer, change colors to the all over yellow dogface puffer.

Hi Alaica. The dogface puffer, also known as the black spotted puffer(Arothron nigropunctatus) has different phases of coloration; grey, and half yellow. While it my change colors throughout its life in the ocean it very rarely changes phases in the tank environment. Usually the color phase that you purchase it in is the color it will stay. It may get more or less black, grey or yellow spots but that is about it. There is a similar species of puffer that is a bright golden yellow however it is not an actual dogface puffer. This one is called a golden puffer(Arothron meleagris).
