Question

worms
Hi, Mr Biil. I have a 26 gallon bowfront and i setup about 6 weeks and theres noting inside just rock and sand. I'm waiting for the cycle complete, and i found some worms or copeopods not sure please tell me what is it in the picture and if is good for the aquarium

Answer
Hey Jerry,

Thanks for the picture.  (it is a bit blurry, but i think i was able to blow it up a little).

I think, but am not sure, but the critter to the right, might be an amphipod?!?

It looks a bit 'shrimp like'.  If it is, then you are doing something right, as they really take a little while to show up.

How long has your tank been cycling, and are you testing for nitrites, and have they zero'd out yet?

IF they have, i would start adding stuff, (slowly).  Maybe a few snails, not too many, and a fish or two.

If they arent't shrimp like, and are more stringy, they could be worms, or could be legs/arms from mini bristle star fish, (About a half inch from tip to tip)

They stick ther little legs out of the small holes and hope thier little legs snag something.

Or worms, spaghetti worms, act the same way, they stretch thier bodies in the current/flow and how to filter out or snag stuff in the water.

Try touching it, either with your finger or a chop stick type of tool, and see if it retracts...

Good eye, and hopefully your tank will be full of stuff to watch at night, (my best time for viewing)
