Question
QUESTION: My pump/filter in my small outdoor pond just died and the weather is getting colder here in Ohio.  Can I go without replacing the pump until Spring as long as I keep a pond heater in the pond during the winter months?

ANSWER: Hi Jim!
I will need some more information:
How deep is the Pond?
How many gallons?
How many fish and what size and type?

QUESTION: The pond is approximately 2 feet deep and 4 feet wide in all directions.  I am not sure how many gallons it contains.  There are 6 gold fish about the size of a small fist.

Answer
I think your Goldfish will be fine with just a heater this winter. Just do not feed them until the water temperature is over 55 degrees again and you have an operating pump and filter. The ratio of water to fish is such that they should be just fine as long as there is a hole in the surface letting gases escape and oxygen in.
