my fish are dying!

Question
I have just recently got a fish aquarium(22 l), when we put our fish in they all seemed fine but after the first week one died and then another about two days latter. There were 4 fish to start with but now theres only 2 left,one is practically dead and the others fins were frayed(this happened to the other 2 fish that died. we have not yet checked the pH,ammonia and nitrite levls but we are sure we have been doing all the write things.
We changed our watter 3 days after we had put the fish in then we changed it a week after that because the water looked mirky(we changed about 3/4 of the water).
Im not quite sure wat type our fish are but they are all goldfish (one has big eyes,another has big stomic and small tail,one has orange,black and white spotts on it and the last one is all white apart from a red spoldge on its head.All of them have two tails exept the one that is all white and has a red splodge on its head).
sorry about spelling if its wrong because im only 11(the spelling chak was to confusing).

Answer
Hi Polly;

You write very well for being 11! The spell check is a bit difficult to get used too. I'm so sorry your fish are dying. Here's what's going on;

The tank is just too small for goldfish. Goldfish are very messy guys that get really big. They need a minimum of 35 to 40 liters per fish. The tank is also in the break-in period so there are too many for it to get started successfully without the fish getting sick and dying. There's just too much waste making ammonia for them to stay alive. Make a 50% water change every day until you can get a larger tank or until you can return the fish to the fish store and get smaller types.

Here is a link to my own page about new tanks and another about goldfish and what they need;
