QuestionHi Alex,
I also work as an expert in fish on this site but I've got something that has completely stumped me. I'm based in England so I usually get questions from the US during the night.
Anyways, a woman got hold of me about her little son's tank. She'd lost a black moor, couple of fancies, the usual stuff but wanted to know what had caused it.
I resolved the situation but then she sent me a thank-you note that worried me.
She's housed a black moor and a pearlscale with a male paradise fish. What I'm confused/worried about is aren't paradise fish semi-aggressive???
I've had a male paradise fish rip guppies to shreds so I'm worried about her fancy goldfish being ripped apart by the male.
I'm probably over-reacting but I need to get this resolved so I know for the future.
cheers
Tom
AnswerI believe that there may be different "kinds" of paradise fish and because of poor labeling in stores an example being Wal-Mart it may have just been mislabeled and be a normal aggressive groumai. If it is a True paradise then it may cause problem although I noticed mine don't really pick at other fish except for their own species and I was able to overcome this with lots of plants in the tank. I would ask for a picture and go from there, you want to be sure of the species, well thanks for asking me! Have a good day Tom!
Ps: Some fish act differently so perhaps your paradise has a mind of its own.
