lifespan

i just heard that some fish have a 30 day lifespan.  if so, is this true of swordtails & tiger barbs?    thanks

Hi Sandra,

The only things that have 30-day lifespans are certain species of insects, and micro-organisms, like bacteria.

Most common tropical fish have lifespans of 3-5 years.

Swordtails and tiger Barbs are no exception, and they live up to 4 years if properly kept. who told you that they had a 30 day lifespan?
if it was a friend who had kept them before, it was probably because he/she did not keep them in a proper home.
