Question
I have just discovered and separated 75+ babies and their parents from the rest of the tank in a small breeding net,so far mom and dad have been very protective and mom even re-located some of the young using her mouth. will the parents eventually eat their young? if so when should I remove parents from the safety netting?

Answer
Hi Tom,
Many cichlids are excellent parents. In fact, watching them do their thing is the best part of keeping cichlids as far as I am concerned.

I leave the parents with the kids for about 3 weeks or so, sometimes much longer.
