Blood parrot and male peacock

Question
I have a blood parrot that is in a 120 gallon tank with about 20 other various African cichlid's. he has been hiding in a log for multiple days and doesn't seem to come out and eat, unless he is eating off of the bottom when the lights are off. anyway he has been hiding for about days, he seems to be more pale than usual. I also have a peacock species that is very dark with light tipped fins, that has developed a white ring around his mouth and seems to be hiding behind tank decorations. i have checked the chemicals everything seems to be good, i am currently doing a water change, just need to know what is wrong any ideas, medications, diagnosis, etc would really be appreciated. Thanks a lot

Answer
Hi Steve,
A blood parrot is not an African cichlid. It is a manmade hybrid of two or more new world cichlids, so it is probably feeling very out of place in a tank with African cichlids.

The white ring around the mouth of the peacock sounds like bruising. This happens as a result of fighting.  Fighting is a normal part of cichlid life, but keep an eye on things.

You should be doing weekly partial water changes. YOu should change 25% of the water once a week, every week to keep your fish happy and healthy.  Have you been doing that?
